Versatile and Aesthetic Quartz

Quartz is crafted from natural minerals, providing the aesthetic depth reminiscent of natural stone. With its vast array of colors and patterns, quartz offers versatility in design. By adhering to the recommended care and maintenance practices, you can preserve the beauty of your quartz surface for years to come.

Benefits of Quartz

  • Scratch Resistance: Quartz surfaces are highly resistant to scratches, ensuring durability and longevity even under regular daily use.
  • Bacteria Resistance: Thanks to its non-porous nature, quartz does not harbor bacteria, making it a hygienic choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops.
  • Stain Resistance: The non-porous surface of quartz makes it highly resistant to stains, minimizing the likelihood of discoloration or blemishes.
  • Heat Resistance: Quartz countertops can withstand moderate temperatures, providing peace of mind in kitchen settings. However, we still recommend placing a heat pad under any hot surfaces before placing them directly on the counter.
  • Color/Pattern Consistency: For projects requiring multiple slabs, quartz offers consistent color and pattern, ensuring a uniform appearance across the entire surface.

Finish Options

  • Polished: Commonly referred to as Hi-Gloss, the polished finish boasts a reflective, high-shine surface.
  • Honed: Also known as matte, the honed finish offers a smooth surface with minimal to no shine, providing a subdued and elegant appearance.
  • Textured: Known by various names such as Leather, Brushed, Concrete, Suede, or Velvet, textured finishes feature tactile surfaces with minimal shine, adding depth and character to the countertop.

Seams

Seams in quartz countertops are filled with a color-matching adhesive, ensuring a cohesive appearance. While they may be visible and felt, their prominence can vary depending on the texture and movement of the material. English Marble & Granite considers factors such as slab size, layout, material characteristics, and safety when determining seam placements. Although all desired seam locations are taken into account, the final placement is at the discretion of English Marble & Granite, prioritizing installation requirements and aesthetics.

Corners

As per quartz manufacturer guidelines, the inside sink and L-shaped corners must adhere to a minimum radius of 3/8", ensuring both safety and aesthetics in your countertop design.

Support Guidelines for Quartz Countertops

The maximum unsupported overhang for a 3CM Quartz product is 14” and 11” for a 2CM product as long as 2/3 of the countertop is supported by a solid affixed structure such as cabinets or walls. In situations where additional support is required for safety reasons, brackets should be used. These brackets must be placed 6 inches from each end of the overhang, spaced up to 30 inches apart, and extended to 3 - 6 inches from the edge of the countertop. For more detailed information, please consult the website of each quartz manufacturer.

Care Recommendations

Maintaining your quartz countertops is hassle-free as they do not require sealing. For daily cleaning, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild liquid soap. Alternatively, you can use an ammonia-free glass cleaner or any non-abrasive household cleaner devoid of lemon, ammonia, or bleach. To tackle soap scum, opt for a non-acidic soap scum remover. Promptly wipe up spills to prevent staining. Darker-colored quartz and non-polished materials may require more frequent cleaning as they tend to show dirt, dust, and marks more visibly than lighter patterns. Protect your surface from heat damage, scratches, and staining by using hot pads and trivets under heat-generating appliances. Additionally, employ cutting boards, placemats, and coasters to safeguard your countertops.
